The Manjushri Institute of Buddhist Studies is a membership organization under the management of a Board of Directors. The three permanent directors are the President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each year, at the annual membership meeting in December, members elect one or more additional representatives to the Board. The members also set dues for the coming year, establish categories of membership (if any), determine memberships benefits and responsibilities, and make recommendations for program changes and additions.

The Manjushri Institute has the ability to expand its activities in keeping with the interests and resources of its members. It does not currently own or lease its own meeting space nor does it now host resident teachers or translators. It is entirely capable of doing so if sufficient numbers of members commit to generating the resources necessary to support those activities. The Institute is supported exclusively by membership dues and fees or donations for scheduled Dharma events. It has no external sources of support.

Your support is very important. Without that support the Institute has limited ability to organize and host events. It is the generosity and commitment of the members that make it possible to bring qualified teachers to the area. There is never a fee for the teaching, it is offered freely. Rental of space, advertising, travel, translation, and materials are all costly and the donations for events cover those expenses. The Institute makes an offering to any teacher it invites on behalf of its members and participants but it is limited to the number and generosity of participants.

Partial scholarships are available for virtually all events. If you could not otherwise attend an event please ask about a reduced fee in return for your help at the event. Success in learning the Dharma depends greatly on generosity of heart, manifest in whatever way is most appropriate to your means and circumstances. Without that generosity the teachings would cease and Institutes and programs such as this would no longer be possible.
